Our AAR Approach: Structured, Neutral, and Action-Oriented

    • Engage with client POCs to define the scope, objectives, and audience for the AAR.

    • Establish alignment with command, clinical, or executive stakeholders.

    • Review any relevant reports, incident logs, exercise plans, or operational orders.

    • Prepare guiding materials and customised questioning frameworks.

  • Led by neutral, experienced facilitators (often ex-military, medical, or operational professionals).

    • Safe, confidential environment promoting open reflection and non-attributable discussion.

    • Formats include:

      • Hotwash AAR (immediate, informal)

      • Cold AAR (more in-depth, after data collection)

      • Multi-agency or cross-team reviews

    • Use of structured tools: timelines, checklists, fault-tree mapping, and knowledge boards.

    • Post-session synthesis of insights into validated lessons using structured formats.

    • Grouped by theme: planning, execution, resources, communication, leadership.

    • Optional input from SMEs or doctrine writers to assess validity and generalisability.

    • Conversion of lessons into actionable outputs:

      • Updates to SOPs, briefings, checklists, doctrine

      • Integration into induction or training modules

      • Development of scenario-based learning exercises

    • Optional upload into Istidrak-built knowledge portals (tagged, searchable, heatmapped).
